On July 13, 2005, the new Energy Industry Act (EnWG) came into force as Art. 1 of the Second Law on the New Regulation of Energy Industry Law.

According to Section 118 Paragraph 3 EnWG, Stadtwerke

Frankfurt (Oder) is a basic supplier within the meaning of Section 36 Pargraph 2 EnWG for the pipeline supply of natural gas in the Frankfurt (Oder) network area.
